Not another boring real estate blog
Hello, my name is Frank and this is my real estate blog.
I’m a real estate broker with Sotheby’s International Realty Canada and a husband, dad, gamer, basket-baller, trekkie plus other things.
I want to tell you a story about how I got started in real estate and the reasons why I started this blog now.
The all hands meeting.
The journey began with an all hands meeting called by the director of our Toronto sales office. The company is major multi-national manufacturer of PC’s, the one with the red nipple on the keyboard.
The director told hundreds of people that due to changes in the economy, the company would be closing the office and most people would be laid off.
People were shocked and dismayed. Many had worked there for most of their professional careers and had families to support.
I was excited about the opportunity to have a new beginning. For a 23 year old, being laid off was an opportunity to redesign my life.
The company would take 6 months setting up their new sales operations, so there was time to figure out what to do next.
The conference.
I found what I wanted to do by chance.
My friend sent me a link to a massive real estate conference happening at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The conference was headlined by than Donald J Trump and Tony Robbins. Trump was uber popular because he realized people enjoyed watching him firing people. I bought a ticket and was excited to learn from the real estate mogul and become inspired by Tony Robbins.
Trump appeared as a giant head on a screen, in other words his message left little impact.
In contrast, Tony Robbins was there in the flesh. Tony’s message inspired me to get my real estate licence and take charge of my life. After that, I registered for the first real estate course and started my journey.
Gratitude.
11 years as a Realtor has made me so grateful for the hundreds of clients that have helped transform my life for the better. Thank you for allowing me to be of service.
The most important thanks goes to my wife and young boys for tolerating my attachment to my phone and all of the weekend/evening showings.
Why blog?
I am still scratching the surface of what there is to know about real estate and life and I need to get better.
Perhaps the habit of writing to understand and teach will be enough to make all the difference. Maybe the connections that we make will be the difference.
Time will tell.
